Dr. Ginny Whitelaw Roshi

Ginny (Jiko) Whitelaw, Roshi is a Rinzai Zen Master (Roshi), ordained as a priest in the Chozen-ji line of Rinzai Zen in 1996, and has trained under its great teachers: Tanouye Rotaishi, Hosokawa Roshi, and Hakuun Greene Roshi, from whom she received inka. She is also a 5th degree black belt (Godan) in Aikido. She was a long-time student of Fumio Toyoda Shihan and led two dojo under his organization.

Whitelaw Roshi began working with Caron Sensei and the students of Zenshinkan Dojo in 2005 to continue and deepen the Zen practice that was started by Zenshinkan’s founder, Edward Haupt, Sensei. Through regular workshops and Zen trainings held at Zenshinkan over many years and through traveling to extended Zen trainings (sesshin) with Caron Sensei; Whitelaw Roshi has made a lasting impact on the Zen training practiced within this dojo.

Whitelaw Roshi is currently the President of the Institute for Zen Leadership, which is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the development of leaders who can create a better world using Zen. Whitelaw Roshi is also the President of Focus Leadership, and has, for nearly 20 years, developed leaders at some of the largest and most prestigious public companies in operation today. She has authored 3 books including, The Zen Leader, and co-developed the FEBI® – a personality assessment linking mind and body. Formerly the Deputy Manager for integrating NASA’s Space Station Program, she holds a doctorate in biophysics.
