Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, emphasizes nonviolent responses to conflict and encourages students to exceed personal limitations through cooperation rather than competition. Aikido techniques are elegant and dynamic yet powerful, and its principles can be applied to daily life situations. Aikido practitioners learn to face everyday life's conflicts in a proactive, constructive manner.
The 6-week introductory course is the perfect opportunity to begin Aikido training in a safe and joyful environment. Students will learn fundamental body movements through easy to follow exercises, basic level techniques, as well as dojo etiquette and Aikido philosophy. This six-week course provides a solid foundation for future study if students decide to continue ongoing training as full members of the dojo.

"When I first came to Zenshinkan, I was so happy to find how welcoming everyone was. As a newcomer, it was overwhelming to jump right into class, but everyone made me feel at home. The senior students are very encouraging and helpful with junior students. Bel Sensei has been wonderful to work with, with patience, understanding, and a positive perspective on not only Aikido, but life. Since I started a year and a half ago, I've now gotten other members of my family coming. My daughter attends the kids classes and my son attends the teens classes. We all have a great time, enjoy the experience of learning Aikido, and have also found wonderful new friends in the Aikido community."

Zenshinkan Dojo, a traditional Japanese Aikido school located in the heart of Worcester, has been teaching and promoting Aikido training for over 25 years. Although our lineage traces directly back to the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, Zenshinkan’s instructors adapt their classes to address the challenges of our modern society.
Zenshinkan Dojo is a place where Aikido and Zen training are offered concurrently to create a program of shugyo: intense spiritual, physical and mental training.
